چکیده
When applied to array processing, the Pisarenko harmonic retrieval method is limited to linear equispaced arrays. We present an approach that allows to extend it to general arrays. For the ease of exposition, we consider only sparse linear arrays. Though limited in generality, these arrays already permit to localize up to N(N 1)/2 narrow-band sources with N-sensors. We actually show that the Pisarenko approach can be seen as a deconvolution or modelfitting approach that minimizes an C1 norm and can be implemented as a standard linear program. Further extensions allowing to model and take into account the statistical nature of the data (the estimation errors) are also proposed.

Extension of the Pisarenko method to sparse linear arrays
When applied to array processing, the Pisarenko harmonic decomposition (PHD) method is limited to linear equispaced arrays. We present an approach that allows us to extend it to general arrays, although for the ease of exposition, we consider only sparse linear arrays. We exploit the fact that the PHD can be seen as a deconvolution or model-fitting approach that minimizes an `1 norm and can thu...
متن کاملMAXIMUM SINR BEAMFORMING FOR CORRELATED SOURCES - Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1995. ICASSP-95., 1995 International Conference on
AB-STRACT In this paper, we consider the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) performance of several beamforming algorithms, taking particular account of the contribution of sources correlated with the desired signal. In addition, we derive an optimal method that maximizes SINR by combining with the desired signal estimate any components of the interference/multipaths that are correla...
متن کاملSequential homotopy-based computation of multiple solutions to nonlinear equations
IEEE Intl. Conf. Acoustics, Speech & Signal Processing (ICASSP) May 1995 Homotopy methods have achieved significant success in solving systems of nonlinear equations for which the number of solutions are known and the homotopy paths are bounded. We present a twostage homotopyprocess which does not require a-priori knowledge of the number of solutions to a system of nonlinear equations. This app...
متن کاملA CLOSED-FORM METHOD FOR FINDING SOURCE LOCATIONS FROM MICROPHONE-ARRAY TIME-DELAY ESTIMATES - Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1995. ICASSP-95., 1995 International Conference on
LI) estimator, a closedform method for the localization of source positions given only the sensor array time-delay estimate information, is presented. The array is constrained to be composed of 4-element sub-arrays configured in 2 centered orthogonal pairs. A bearing line in 3-space is estimated from each sub-array and potential source locations are found via closest intersection of bearing lin...
متن کاملTREE STRUCTURED NON-LINEAR SIGNAL MODELING AND PREDICTION - Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1995. ICASSP-95., 1995 International Conference on
We develop a non-parametric method of nonlinear prediction based on adaptive partitioning of the phase space associated with the process. The partitioning method is implemented with a recursive tree-structured vector quantization algorithm which successively refines the partition by binary splitting where the splitting threshold is determined by a penalized maximum entropy criterion. A complexi...
